Meet Dr. Meryl Kahan

Expert gynecologic and hormone care, rooted in partnership

I’m Dr. Meryl Kahan, a board-certified gynecologist and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. I created SheMD for women who want thoughtful, expert care during the years when so much begins to shift. Here, you’ll find a doctor who takes time, listens carefully, and helps you make sense of what your body is telling you.

Why I created SheMD

After years in private practice and hospital-based settings in New York and New Jersey, I kept seeing the same pattern: women in perimenopause were often told their symptoms were normal or were offered a quick fix without a full evaluation.

I knew there had to be a better way to care for this stage of life. SheMD was built to offer exactly that: time, clarity, and specialized support grounded in both gynecology and hormone health.

A more complete way to care for women in midlife

Gynecologic health, including bleeding changes, pelvic concerns, and sexual health

Perimenopause is not just a hormone shift. It can affect sleep, mood, focus, bleeding patterns, sexual health, metabolism, and overall quality of life, often all at once.

Hormone related symptoms such as brain fog, sleep disruption, mood changes, and low libido
The bigger picture, including metabolism, bone health, and long term well being

My training as a gynecologist allows me to look at the full picture, so we can understand what is hormonal, what may need further gynecologic evaluation, and what kind of support will make the biggest difference for you. That integrated, whole person approach is the foundation of every care plan I create.

Training and expertise

I graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University, earned my medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, and completed my obstetrics and gynecology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Over the years, I pursued advanced training in hormonal management and bioidentical hormone therapy to better support women navigating midlife.

If you’ve been looking for more thoughtful care, you’re in the right place

You deserve time, answers, and a doctor who sees the full picture. I’d be honored to support you through this season of change.
